2011 Statistical Report; Burmese Americans in the United States

October 18, 2012 0

These statistics represent the first data report of the Burmese-American community based upon results from the 2010 Census, American Community Survey, U.S. Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, U.S. Department of State, and other sources. They provide a detailed portrait of the Burmese-American community in the United States. The data addresses critical concerns facing underserved communities throughout the United States, including newly-arrived Burmese families and children in need of language assistance, education, employment, housing, and more in order to survive and thrive in the United States. In the last three years, more than 90 percent of the Burmese who migrated to the United States did so as refugees.
