The U.S.-Myanmar Exchange & Gala Dinner is an opportunity for business and community members to convene and discuss the challenges and opportunities facing the country of Myanmar, and the United States today. The event will be held at the Los Angeles/Universal Hilton Hotel on Saturday, May 2 from 5 pm to 9:30 pm.

The evening will also be a celebration of the opening of the first Myanmar Consulate General Office in Los Angeles since the establishment of diplomacy between the two countries in 1947.

The U.S.-Myanmar Exchange & Gala Dinner is a unique chance to discover and learn about the culture, tourism, and business investments between the United States and Myanmar. The event is being organized by the Network of Myanmar American Association (Net Myanmar) and Aung Zay Media, in partnership with the Myanmar Gazette newspaper.

This gala is expected to bring the U.S. and California congressional members, the Mayor of Los Angeles, senior members of Myanmar’s State and Federal governments, civil society executive board members, several C-level executives from national and multinational companies in banking and finance, manufacturing, technology, logistics, energy, tourism, and infrastructure development, together with prominent Myanmar American community leaders, academia, and media will be in attendance to discuss the challenges and opportunities facing Myanmar and the United States today.

As you probably know, California is home to the largest number of Myanmar/Burmese-Americans with more than 85,000 living in the San Francisco Bay Area and Los Angeles. The Myanmar/Burmese Americans population grew by 499 percent from 2000 to 2010, making Burmese the third fastest-growing Asian American ethnic group over the past decade.
