Cultural Performances:

Recognizing that culture is a vital social asset, NetMAA works with community and cultural leaders to design programs that build long-term social bonds and increase public participation through community outreach. The traditional dance performance is designed to increase understanding, support, and recognition of the cultural impacts of continued migration and connection between Myanmar, Asia, and the United States.

Thousands of people of diverse ethnic, racial, and cultural backgrounds have enjoyed past NetMAA events and performances. NetMAA’s programs strive to remove cultural barriers and enhance appreciation of the Myanmar/Burmese culture as an integral part of the American cultural experience. As the Myanmar (Burmese) community grows, the heritage of traditional cultural dance becomes an important part of sharing the arts and culture and provides networking opportunities within our community as well as other Asian communities.

We participate in various cultural performances such as at the Southeast Asia Day at the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Festival, Asian Pacific Islander American Heritage Month (APIAHM) celebration in the city of Los Angeles, World Refugee Day Celebration in Anaheim, Annual Myanmar New Year/Water Festival in Los Angeles, Myanmar Independence Day, Myanmar Cultural Day at the USC Pacific Asia Museum, and other renowned cultural events.

Sharing the Culture:

NetMAA continues to serve as the liaison between the Myanmar community and organizations and the mainstream media. Sometimes we have to advocate on behalf of our members to ensure our voice and face are present, but we are always engaged with the overall arts landscape. NetMAA has and will continue to advocate for the presence, inclusion, and participation of Myanmar arts, artists, and organizations in the arts world of the State of California, because we know the work we do is a benefit to all the people living in our state and we share a culture that is common to all of us.
