Myanmar Earthquake 7.7 Magnitude

March 29, 2025 0

On Friday, March 28, 2025, a catastrophic 7.7-magnitude earthquake struck near Mandalay, Myanmar’s second-largest city, causing widespread devastation. The shakes were felt throughout the country and even as far as Bangkok, Thailand. In Mandalay, the earthquake caused significant destruction, with many buildings collapsing and critical infrastructure suffering severe damage. Reports indicate that the extent of the damage in the city is substantial. According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), this earthquake is the most powerful to hit Myanmar in over a century. A geologist interviewed by CNN stated that “the Myanmar earthquake unleashed energy equivalent to more than 300 atomic bomb explosions.”

We extend our thoughts to everyone affected in Myanmar. We sincerely respect the many individuals providing emergency support and rescue efforts on the ground.
