Myanmar (Burmese) New Film "Kyoe Tane" is coming to Los Angeles Independent Theater (Sept.12 & 13 )

Myanmar (Burmese) New Film “Kyoe Tane” will show in the 2nd Myanmar Film Festival, Los Angeles on September 2009 sponsored by the Network of Myanmar American Association. The festival is Two (2) days event and there will be a screening of Two Myanmar films based on the Myanmar culture.

Myanmar (Burmese) new Film ” Kyoe Tane” is showing at the cinemas around Yangon since April 17, 2009 (after Thingyan Festival). “Kyoe Tane” movie is directed by Myanmar famous director Mie Bwar, starring famous actors Kyaw Hein, Kyaw Ye Aung, famous actresses Htun Eaindra Boa and Soe Myat Thuzar.

The story is based on about the two poor fishermen’s families who are living on the sandbank. These two fishermen’s families are fighting each other because of poverty. The movie can clearly give the message that nothing is permanent in our human life and hatred, anger, greediness, and selfishness can create huge bad things in your life.

“Kyoe Tane” will be shown at Downtown Independent Theater (http://www.downtownindependent.com/), a state-of-the-art facility located in the heart of Downtown Los Angeles. It is the chance for everyone to see Myanmar movie on the big screen before its DVD is released to the general public.

The Annual Myanmar Film Festival of Los Angles is a fine example of a community-based exhibition.  While the Myanmar (Burmese) American Film Festival, now in its second year, is marked by steady success, although it’s not a player yet in the cinema circuit in South East Asian communities in the United States. But that’s okay. The intense seems to be sparking local dialogue; and with it, the Festival excels.
