About the 2020 U.S. Census
The U.S. Census is conducted every ten years to count every person living in the United States and its territories. The 2020 Census marked the 24th count of the U.S. population, and it was the first time that households were invited to respond to the census online.
How is the Census data used?
The Census data is used to allocate funding for communities, ensure public safety, and plan new schools and hospitals. People use Census data to decide where to open businesses and offices, which creates jobs. By law, the U.S. Census Bureau cannot share the data with immigration or law enforcement agencies or allow it to determine eligibility for government benefits.
The Burmese (Myanmar) American population refers to people of Burmese descent living in the United States. According to the 2020 U.S. Census Data, it is estimated that approximately 276,322 Burmese Americans were living in the country. The Burmese American community is diverse, with individuals coming from different ethnic groups and regions within Burma (Myanmar).
